Inviting Your Thoughts: Benefits of Being a Solver

I posted our most recent Solver Profile on Nikolay Barashkov last week. He makes the point that being a Solver not only gave him the opportunity to earn cash, it also gave him a place to develop some of his best ideas. He has submitted those that were not chosen as winning solutions for provisional patents. I recently spoke to another Solver from Europe who told me that InnoCentive allowed him to earn cash toward his own research. He said it was hard to find funding where he’s located and he found this was a great way to earn money on the side.

We’d love to hear your perspective as a Solver. What prompted you to sign up as a Solver? What do you value most about being a Solver? Just post your thoughts in the comments section of this post.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts,

Liz

As a matter of fact I just sent the text below to Innocentive.
There it goes one of my perspectives as a solver.

The idea of “pulling” solvers from seekers’ demands is very ingenious, fascinating I’d say. Bringing “problems” and “solving minds” together is quite a natural movement, but multiplied by internet. Amazing.
However, solvers comprise a community of very creative people, that may already have created solutions not yet sought by seekers. I bet, many among the solvers might have excellent projects wating to be developed, implemented, transformed into products; solutions for human problems. And seekers may wish to know them!
So, I suggest that Innocentive should create an area for PROJECTS PRESENTATION to industry/investors.
Instead of just UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, why not collect, present and sell ANSWERS for QUESTIONS YET UNIMAGINED by seekers?…
Innocentive may also become an accessory forum for intellectual property protection.

    Thanks for your attention,

    esfera

This is regarding an idea that offers one more benefit. It is to organize the information/knowledge used by the solvers in the process of finding solutions to the challenges.
Lot of solvers spend considerable amount of time and efforts to find solutions to the challenges. In the process, they collect and organize significant amount of information related to the challenge. Some of this information may be proprietary, but remaining information can be freely shared with other solvers.
Innocentive can develop a tool that can help the interested solvers to share this information and it can also organize this information in many different ways; of which one possible scenario is to put all this information as an attachment to a particular challenge. It can be a good learning tool for other solvers. In the process of solving future challenges, this information may act as good resource.
