Abstract
We are searching for an aircraft pre-boarding passenger screening system that would indicate exposure to or infection by a contagious agent. The pre-clinical, pre-symptomatic medical diagnostic system must be non-invasive to the greatest extent possible. There should be no need for body fluids extraction (i.e. it can be detected from skin, breath, etc.)
Overview
We are searching for an aircraft pre-boarding passenger screening system that would indicate exposure to or infection by a contagious agent. The pre-clinical, pre-symptomatic medical diagnostic system must be non-invasive to the greatest extent possible. There should be no need for body fluids extraction (i.e. it can be detected from skin, breath, etc.)

This requires a written proposal only.
The proposal, which will be evaluated by the Seeker on a theoretical basis, should include the identification and detailed description of the proposed method/equipment and rationale as to why the Solver believes that the proposed method/equipment will meet the requirements.

Due to the recent outbreak of the H1N1 virus (swine influenza) this Challenge has an urgent need for solutions. The Seeker will be screening submissions as they are submitted by special arrangement. The Challenge will run for 30 days with an option to extend for another 30 days if deemed necessary by the Seeker. The Seeker may also be interested in potential collaboration with Solvers or Solver groups in the future if a solution is found. The Seeker would prefer Intellectual Property rights; however, for preexisting work, rights are negotiable. The Seekers most important objective is to have at least the right to practice any solution for their specific application.

What is a Theoretical-Licensing Challenge?

An InnoCentive Theoretical Challenge builds upon an idea but is not yet a proof of concept. A solution to a Theoretical Challenge will solidify the Solver's concept with detailed descriptions, specifications and requirements necessary to bringing a good idea closer to becoming an actual product or service.

This Challenge is a Theoretical-Licensing Challenge, meaning that the Seeker is requesting non-exclusive rights to use the winning solution. By contrast, Theoretical-IP Transfer means that Solvers must relinquish all rights to the Intellectual Property (IP) for which they are awarded. For these forms of a Theoretical Challenge, Solvers that do not win retain the rights to their solution after the evaluation period is complete. The Seeker retains no rights to any IP not awarded.
