scPharmaceuticals (Seeker) has developed a novel patch pump for subcutaneous delivery of drugs. The device is temporarily affixed to the skin with a medical adhesive. The Seeker desires an innovative approach that balances adhesive strength with skin tolerability, thereby minimizing skin irritation and damage upon removal.
This is an Ideation Challenge with a guaranteed award for at least one submitted solution.
Medical adhesives come in many sizes, types, and forms suitable for a wide variety of applications. Skin injury associated with the use of medical adhesives can occur in patients of all age groups across the spectrum of care settings. Subcutaneous administration of parenteral medications can be achieved by using a patch pump. The required adhesive must keep the pump in place on the abdominal wall for several hours while still being easy to remove several hours later. The Seeker desires an innovative approach that balances adhesive strength with skin tolerability, thereby minimizing skin irritation and damage upon removal.
