Health and education are essential for the economic development of society. In spite of differences created by geography or demographics, education is highly correlated with not only life span, but also economic growth. An educated worker is more productive and as a parent will make better choices and provide more opportunities for their children to succeed. Research in the developing world indicates that educational status (especially of the mother) is a predictor of health outcomes. Much more can be done, especially in context of the developing countries as every minute, many women and children are dying from preventable diseases and treatable conditions. Therefore, Ideagen seeks to empower women & girls through new approaches that increase access to quality education and / or promoting their good health and well being.
This is an Ideation Challenge with a guaranteed award for at least one submitted solution.
Last September marked the announcement of 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations Summit. World leaders committed to achieving these goals in order to make the world a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable place by the year 2030. Four of these initiatives are key areas of focus for this Challenge: Good Health, Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Partnerships for the Goals. At the Annual Ideagen UN Empowering Women & Girls 2030 Summit, the world’s leading companies, NGOs, and public sector organizations will convene to discuss and develop solutions to empower women & girls across the planet. In searching for more diverse perspectives, Ideagen seeks innovative, cross-sector solutions that promote gender equality while also increasing access to quality education and / or promoting good health and well being of women & girls.
This is a special Ideation Challenge, which has the following unique features:
There is a guaranteed award. The award(s) will be paid to the best submission(s) as solely determined by the Seeker. The total payout will be $10,000, with at least one award being no smaller than $5,000 and no award being smaller than $2,000.
The three finalists of this Challenge will have the unique opportunity to pitch their idea via a video presentation at the Annual Ideagen UN Empowering Women & Girls 2030 Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, NY on July 13, 2016. The winner(s) will be determined by a distinguished panel of judges selected from Ideagen member organizations.
The Solvers are not required to transfer exclusive intellectual property rights to the Seeker. Rather, by submitting a proposal, the Solver grants to the Seeker a royalty-free, perpetual, and non-exclusive license to use any information included in this proposal, including for promotional purposes.
Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on June 27, 2016.
Late submissions will not be considered.
After the Challenge deadline, the Seeker will complete the review process and make a decision with regards to the Winning Solution(s). All Solvers that submit a proposal will be notified on the status of their submissions by July 5, 2016; however, no detailed evaluation of individual submissions will be provided.

What is an InnoCentive Ideation™ Challenge?
An InnoCentive Ideation™ Challenge is a broad question formulated to obtain access to new ideas, similar to a global brainstorm for producing a breakthrough idea or market survey which may include ideas for a new product line, a new commercial application for a current product, or even a viral marketing idea to recruit new customers. Ideation™ Challenge submissions are typically about two written pages, and Seekers receive a non-exclusive, perpetual license to use all submissions.
