Challenge overview

The Seeker is looking to dissipate extra heat from an electrical converter enclosed in a small space. The only inlet/outlet from the insulated space will be an electrical wire so the excess heat most likely will need to be converted to electricity to remove it. More details will be provided in the Challenge Description.

This Theoretical Challenge requires only a written proposal.

An electrical converter generates 6 kW of heat continuously, removed via a cold plate and liquid cooling loop to dissipate the heat outside the insulated compartment within which the converter is located.  Changes in the system necessitate that 0.5 kW more heat needs to be removed from the converter along with a peak of another 0.5 kW periodically.  The current liquid loop and cooling system has no more capacity/space to expand.  The only new inlet/outlet to the insulated compartment is electrical wiring so heat most likely will need to be converted to electricity to remove it. Space within the insulated compartment for conversion from heat to electricity is limited.

This is a Theoretical Challenge that requires only a written proposal to be submitted. The Challenge award will be contingent upon theoretical evaluation of the proposal by the Seeker.

To receive an award, the Solvers will not have to transfer their exclusive IP rights to the Seeker. Instead, Solvers will grant to the Seeker a non-exclusive license to practice their solutions.

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on August 12, 2018. Late submissions will not be considered.
