Challenge overview

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is seeking ideas to significantly increase ridership on the City’s public transportation system to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by automobile use in and around the Chicago metropolitan area. The Chicagoland area is the third largest city ranked by population density in the United States and has the second largest public transportation system in the country. Such a high density population clearly impacts the environment both locally and globally. The challenge for global Solvers is to identify strategies for increasing public transportation ridership up to one billion rides per year to significantly reduce the emission caused by automobiles on the road.

This challenge is an Ideation Challenge, which varies from traditional InnoCentive challenges in the following ways:

  • There is a guaranteed award. The award will be paid to the best submission, which is solely determined by the Seeker. The total award will be $5,000.
  • Your submission will describe a plan that meets the requirements of the challenge. You are required to give the Seeker a free, perpetual, and non-exclusive license to use any information submitted for this challenge.

The Seeker will complete the review process and make a decision after the challenge deadline. All Solvers that provide a submission will be notified as to the status of their submission; however, there will not be any detailed evaluation of your submission given.
