Rapid Detection of Dissolved Metal Ions

30 Submissions
$30,000 USD
Challenge closed

Challenge overview

Detection of metal ions dissolved in waste streams is essential for preventing accidental contamination of the environment and adversely impacting ecosystems. Ideally this testing occurs in real time and results are available in a matter of minutes. The Seeker desires an on-line monitoring system for rapid detection of dissolved metals in multiple oxidation states.

This Challenge requires only a written proposal.

Heavy metal pollution is a concern for human and environmental health. Detection of dissolved metals can be accomplished through sampling and data analysis, however, this is a time consuming process that requires bulky and expensive instrumentation. The Seeker desires a non-destructive approach for the rapid detection and quantification of heavy metal ions in aqueous and organic solutions.

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on September 20, 2014. Late submissions will not be considered

This is a Theoretical Challenge that requires only a written proposal to be submitted. The Challenge award will be contingent upon theoretical evaluation of the proposal by the Seeker.

To receive an award, Solvers will not be required to transfer their exclusive IP rights to the Seeker. Instead, Solvers will grant to the Seeker a non-exclusive license to practice their solutions.
