Challenge overview

UC Rusal is looking for partners with expertise in the design and construction of aluminium bridges in order to engage in a collaboration partnership that can lead to the development and construction of cost-efficient bridges with aluminium frameworks.

This is an electronic Request-for-Partners (eRFP) Challenge; the Solver will only need to submit a written proposal to be evaluated by the Seeker with the goal of establishing a collaborative partnership.

As one of the most abundant, widespread, and unique materials at our disposal, aluminium (Al) has found various valuable industrial applications, and aluminium-based products and materials are nowadays an integral part of our lives. Such products take advantage of the outstanding physical-chemical properties of aluminium, such as low density, mechanical strength or resistance to corrosion. However, there is still scope to develop new products, new materials, that further explore the potential of this material.

Rusal strongly believes that one great opportunity lies in the use of aluminium in the construction of automotive, railway, and pedestrian bridges. In Russia, nonetheless, there is still a lack of design experience, standards, and methods. Hence, Rusal is seeking for partners with strong experience and expertise that can propose successful designs and methodologies and support Rusal in this challenging and exciting endeavor.

This is an electronic Request-for-Partners (eRFP) Challenge. The Solver will write a preliminary proposal (about 5-10 pages, including supporting non-confidential information and contact details) to be evaluated by the Seeker with a goal of establishing a collaborative partnership. Upon completion of the evaluation, the Seeker may contact selected Solvers directly to work out terms for a collaboration contract. The monetary value of the contract will vary depending on the amount of work to be delivered and the agreed upon time frame.

NOTE: Only proposals from Solvers who have the ability to work as the collaboration partner will be considered. Furthermore, UC Rusal may elect to make up to two awards of $5,000 each for the top 2 proposals.

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on October 18, 2017. Late submissions will not be considered.
