AstraZeneca is a Global Biopharmaceutical Company with Research and Development at its Core. The global healthcare environment is changing at a rapid pace. Healthcare is becoming more personalized, treatments are becoming more targeted, and economic pressures mean governments and healthcare systems are demanding increasingly cost-effective solutions to healthcare problems. Our ultimate mission is to make a difference through our medicines for patients, their families and society in general. We believe that scientific research is the key to achieving this, in collaboration with others who share our interest and our passion.

Our Open Innovation Goals and Resources Available

Although AstraZeneca has extensive expertise in biopharmaceutical research and development, we recognize that great ideas come from many sources. In fact, most biomedical innovation occurs outside company walls. Thus, we believe that we stand a much better chance of delivering meaningful treatments for serious diseases like Alzheimer’s, cancer and diabetes if we collaborate and share knowledge and resources with other scientists and organizations rather than work in isolation.

You are invited to view and participate in our Challenges, please click on the Challenges tab for more information. In addition to the open innovation Challenges, we are seeking to collaborate with partners across all stages of drug discovery – from the early idea through to early clinical development. These partnerships could profit from the exchange of compounds, technology and/or knowledge to provide an extra gear to hasten and augment the research. For our partners and collaborators, working with AstraZeneca means access to optimized compounds, compound libraries, technologies, multi-disciplinary science, services and know-how, with the prospect of joint publications in high profile journals and, most importantly, the opportunity to see their ideas develop into treatments for patients.

Review the Challenge Agreement

The Challenge Agreement (formerly Challenge Specific Agreement or CSA) is a legal document that outlines a Solver's rights and responsibilities if they elect to submit a solution in response to an Innocentive Challenge. The Challenge Agreement specifies if and how IP will be transferred between Solver and Seeker; it may also specify any special rules, such as exclusionary rules for categories of Solvers, that apply to the Challenge.

You must accept the Challenge Agreement to be able to submit a solution to the Challenge. Be sure to read and understand the Challenge Agreement for each Challenge because you will be subject to the applicable Challenge conditions.

Challenge Agreements provide Solvers with clear details around participation, legal IP transfer (if applicable), and details around Prize and Scouting Challenges.
